Pooran has brought up a 50 in just 15 balls during their fixture against RCB on April 10 at Chinnaswamy Stadium & lifted the accolade of smashing the fastest 50 in IPL 2023. With this feat, Pooran also became the batter to smash the joint second-fastest fifty in the history of IPL. He is tied with Sunil Narine & Yusuf Pathan in the list of fastest fifty in the history of IPL & behind KL Rahul & Pat Cummins who enjoys the record of fastest fifty in IPL history by smashing 50 in just 14 balls.
Pooran’s fifty came in a dire situation when LSG needed runs to chase a mammoth 215 runs target against RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium. And due to his spectacular stint, LSG was able to register a hard-fought one-run win over RCB on their home ground. Nicholas Pooran ended that fixture with a beautiful knock of 62 runs off 52 balls.
2) Ajinkya Rahane:
The second fastest fifty of IPL 2023 is registered by none other than CSK’s new signing Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane achieved this glorious feat during Match 12 of the IPL 2023 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on April 8. Ajinkya Rahane did the unexpected by reaching 50 in just 19 balls & smashed the second-fastest fifty in IPL 2023. His blitzkrieg helped CSK to score 68 runs by the end of powerplay overs. Rahane ended his stint by scoring 61 runs off 27 balls & helped CSK to chase their target within 18.2 overs.
3) Shardul Thakur & Jos Buttler
Shardul Thakur & Jos Buttler are third on the list of fastest fifty in IPL 2023. Both Shardul Thakur & Jos Buttler has scored a 50 in just 20 balls to register the third-fastest fifty of IPL 2023. Jos Buttler smashed his sixteen fifty in just 20 balls in their fixture against SRH while Shardul Thakur smashed a fifty in 20 balls in their fixture against RCB. With these feats, they became batters to smash the joint third-fastest fifty in IPL 2023. Shardul ended his stint with 68 runs off 29 balls helping KKR to lay the foundation for a massive 81-run win over RCB. While Jos Buttler’s massacre helped Rajasthan Royals to post the highest powerplay score in IPL history i.e. 85. Jos Buttler along with Yashaswi Jasiwal stitched a strong 85-run opening stand to guide RR to a massive total of 203 runs against SRH. Later, RR capitalized on their batting performance to outclass SRH at 131 runs registering a 72-run win in their opening fixture of the league.
4) Ishan Kishan, Kyle Mayers & Vijay Shankar:
The record of the fourth fastest fifty in IPL 2023 is shared by three batters i.e. Mumbai Indians Ishan Kishan, CSK batter Kyle Mayers & KKR batter Vijay Shankar. Ishan Kishan scored 50 off just 21 to give MI a powering start in their chase of 186 runs. His 58 runs off 25 balls helped Mumbai chase the target within 17.1 overs.
On the other hand, Kyle Mayers registered his half-century in just 21 balls during the LSG fixture against CSK. In the case of 218 runs, LSG needed a strong start & Kyle Mayers provided exactly the same by scoring 50 runs off 21 balls in the powerplay. He ended his stint at 53 runs off 22 balls & became the first player to score consecutive fifties on his IPL debut. However, his efforts went in vain as LSG lost the fixture by 12 runs.
Gujarat Titans youngster, Vijay Shankar is no less than others on the list as the prolific all-rounder smashed 50 runs off 21 balls to help the Titans post a decent total of 204 runs in their fixture against KKR. He amassed 63 runs off 24 balls in an innings comprising a hat-trick of sixes. But his efforts went in vain as KKR’s Rinku Singh smashed five consecutive sixes off the last five balls to guide KKR to a win in the final over of the innings.
5) Axar Patel
The fifth-fastest fifty of IPL 2023 has been hit by none other than Delhi’s all-rounder Axar Patel. The prolific all-rounder achieved this feat in their fixture against Mumbai Indians where he scored a 50 in just 22 balls. Axar smashed 54 runs off 25 balls in an innings embellished with four fours & five sixes. He also stitched a match-saving 67 runs stand along with Captain Warner to help their side recover from an early jolt. However, Axar’s efforts couldn’t bear fruits with Mumbai Indians pulling off the chase in the last over registering a six-wicket win over Delhi.
