Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic when everyone is doing their bit, Wasim Akram and Darren Gough join the list of cricketers who are making efforts to help the needy people amid the Coronavirus Pandemic.
In order to generate funds fro COVID-19, Former England Cricketer Darren Gough and former Pakistan Captain Wasim Akram have decided to auction their memorabilia from cricketing days. Both the former cricketers have decided to auction various items of memorabilia on behalf of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy who have set up a COVID-19 Response Fund. Wasim Akram is Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in both Test and ODI cricket. Talking about his achievements he played 104 test matches and took 414 wickets. In 356 ODIs he took 502 wickets at an average of 23.52
Darren Gough and Captain Wasim Akram have decided to sign a bat and ball while Gough the second-highest wicket-keeper of England’s team in ODI decided to donate a signed ball. Both now are in the list of cricketers who have included their names in the Charitable list to help out during the crisis, including Jos Buttler, who is auctioning his 2019 World Cup-winning shirt.
Ravi Bopara the other leading cricketer has offered free chicken from his restaurant in London to National Health Service Staff amid the Coronavirus Pandemic, Umpire Aleem Dar had offered free food from his restaurant in Lahore to those who are needy and lost jobs and Sam Billings has offered to shop different essential commodities to the people in his area.
Various Indian cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina are among the cricketers who have contributed to various funds to help defeat the Coronavirus Pandemic.
