“There is absolutely no truth to reports that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be moved from the West Indies and the USA,” said an ECB spokesperson. “Since the event is organized by the ICC, their statement must be taken as binding and conclusive,” they added.
On the other hand, ICC also released a statement commenting on the commencement of the T20 World Cup 2024. Cricket’s World Governing Council has announced that with 20 nations & 55 fixtures, the World Cup 2024 will have the greatest field size of any ICC event. It will be the ninth edition of the Championship & its preparation has already begun after the inspection of the venues
“Venue inspections have recently been concluded in both host territories, and planning for the event in June 2024 is in full swing,” the ICC spokesperson said.
“The 2024 event is scheduled for June, and the only other possible location is England. If someone were to ask the ECB if they can host in 2024, the answer would be crystal clear – they can’t. So, the possibility doesn’t even arise. Just a glance at the England venue fixtures for next year will confirm this to anyone observant enough,” stated the member.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 fixtures to be held in Florida
Initially, it was reported that the hosts of the 2024 & 2030 World Cup could switch places with England, Ireland & Scotland hosting the event in 2024 & the West Indies/US hosting the events seven years later. This would help the USAC to resolve its administrative problems. But now the latest statements from both the concerned boards have made it clear that the marquee event will be conducted in US & West Indies only.
World Cup fixtures might be held in Florida, Dallas, & another location with no administrative involvement from USAC. US & ICC insiders claim that various creative locations are being considered for staging the marquee event in the US.
