Pakistan Head Coach Misbah-Ul-Haq appealed batsman Umar Akmal to follow self-disciplinary measures and focus on his cricket if he wants to come back in the Pakistan team Squad and renew his spoiled career.
29-year-old Umar Akmal who is one of the most talented players of Pakistan Team could be ban for a lifetime after he was charged for not reporting match-fixing offers which he received and due to which he was suspended in February. The Pakistan Cricket Board charged him under for anti-corruption code & given him a deadline to answer the questions raised by Tuesday. Head Coach Misbah said Umar that he has to decide his own destiny through his choice.
“You and I as head coach can’t do anything it’s on Umar he has to decide his own destiny, he has to show discipline and focus on improving his cricket rather getting involved in such heinous activities. He has to decide whether he wants to remain like this or he wants to show exemplary performances and needs to improve his discipline, fitness & focus on his cricket & commitments”.
Umar has started his career with an outstanding performance by making a century in his debut match against New Zealand in the year 2009, but his frequent disciplinary problems had resulted in his ban from the national cricket team. He was also arrested with a traffic warden in 2014. Three years later he was sent back from England for being unfit.
After getting involved in match-fixing scandals and facing lots of discipline problems, Umar Akmal’s career in the Pakistani Cricket team has come under stake. Let’s see whether he would be seen again on the pitch or will face a lifetime ban.
