


Sri Lanka Cricket announced the Lankan premier league starting from August 28 & will end on September 20.
Sri Lanka Premier League will feature five teams & will include the participation of 70 International players the Sri Lanka Cricket said on Monday. The Board further stated that the scheduled Lanka Premier league will have 23 proposed matches involving five teams participating in it. The Sri Lanka Premier league will start from August 28 & end on September 20. The matches will be played at four international venues on the island.
The SLC board said in a statement, “Over 70 international players and 10 top notch coaches have already confirmed their availability to take part in this tournament along with leading Sri Lankan national players”. The SLC did not mention the name of any foreign players which will be featured in the Sri Lankan Premier League it also didn’t disclosed whether the Sri Lankan Health Authorities were be exception in the Quarantine rules for visiting players.
Currently Sri Lankan Government has made it mandatory for the visitors to the island to quarantine for two weeks at state managed centers followed by another two weeks of self-quarantine. The country has also announced the opening of Country’s International airports for foreign tourists from August 1 but it has since been put off indefinitely amid fears of a second wave of infections. Sri Lankan has almost 2,800 infections with 11 deaths since the first coronavirus positive case which was reported on January 27 when a Chinese woman tourist tested positive for COVID-19.
England, South Africa & Bangladesh have also canceled their scheduled tours to Sri Lanka due to the havoc of coronavirus pandemic. On the other hand, the most awaited cash-rich league, IPL is all set to stage in the UAE from September 19. The players reaching UAE for the IPL will have to self-isolate for two weeks after arriving in the country as per the UAE’s coronavirus rules.
