Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi recalled India vs Pakistan test match held at Lahore in 2006 where the Captain himself scored a spectacular hundred in the first innings itself. Shahid Afridi recalled how they had to crack jokes in order to ease the pain of the bowlers during the Lahore Test Match.
Back in the year 2004 when India toured Pakistan for test series after the Kargil war, Virender Sehwag & Rahul Dravid were the top performers in India’s 2-1 win over the rivals Pakistan. After a few years, India again toured Pakistan in 2006 for three-match tets series in which Dravid was leading the side. Naturally, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag & Rahul Dravid were the top performers of team India in the batting line-up. It was quite easy for Dravid & Sehwag to score an outstanding 410 run opening stand.
It was Sehwag who scored highest runs i.e 254 off 247 balls which was his second double hundred against Pakistan after his record-breaking 309 runs a couple of years ago. Recalling that outstanding run-fest at Lahore, former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi who also socred a whopping 100 runs in that Lahore test innings said that the team players had to crack jokes to reduce the pain of the bowlers during that Lahore Test Match as they weren’t able to fetch wickets of top batsmen.
Afridi was replying to the tweet from PCB in which they had shared his photograph with Shoaib Akhtar, “Great memories, this was I believe after one of my favorite Test innings in Lahore against India in 2006, Shoaib was always a threat for batsmen but this was a very flat wicket and bowlers were left to share jokes to overcome their pain,” tweeted Afridi.
In that historic Lahore test series, Pakistan scored 679 runs off 7 wickets whereas India scored 410 runs off 1 wicket in the rain-affected match which highlighted poor bowling side of Pakistan team however the match was a draw. However, Pakistan won the test series by 1-0 after winning the last test match of the series against India.
