Pakistan’s Former Captain Shahid Afridi came in support of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh who faced criticism on social media for backing Shahid Afridi’s foundation in the fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic. He took to twitter and wrote a hard-hitting message, “Very upset to see how simple messages of humanity are getting misunderstood by people! We are responsible & ambassadors for love & peace, not any hatred, I truly support @YUVSTRONG12 & @harbhajan_singh for coming forward and appealing people to #DonateKaroNa #HumanitybeyondBorders”, Shahid Afridi tweeted on Wednesday.
Earlier Harbhajan has appealed people to make a monetary contribution in Pakistan’s Campaign against the fight in COVID-19 and called the cricketers of both the countries to make similar appeals.
“These are testing times, it’s time to take care of each other & help each other to combat this deadly virus together”, Yuvraj wrote on Twitter in a wake of generating funds for the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
While Afridi thanked the two Indian cricketers for their support to rival country but this didn’t go well with the Indian Twitter users who were not pleased with Indian cricketer’s gesture.
“Do you have any sense?” wrote a user on Twitter. “Lost respect” for Harbhajan Singh added another. “Sorry, guys you lost it”. These were the intense angry reactions of some Indian Twitter users against Harbhajan Singh & Yuvraj Raj for extending support to their neighboring country.
After facing the criticism Yuvraj Singh tried to clarify his tweet who generated unnecessary anger among some of the fans on twitter.
“I don’t understand how a message to help the neediest people who are seriously affected by this ongoing situation can receive criticism from others! All I did to achieve from that message was to help people in our respective countries by providing healthcare and my intention was never to hurt anyone’s sentiments. I am an Indian and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity. Jai Hind”, Yuvraj Singh wrote on his Instagram Story.
This is the time when we all should understand that humanity is greater than every dispute and political tensions which prevails between different countries.
