Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi buy a bat owned by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim after the charity auction for coronavirus victims was out tracked by fake bids.
Shahid Afridi has stepped in to buy a bat owned by Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim after the charity auction organized for Coronavirus Victims was derailed by fake bids. Mushfiqur Rahim put his bat which he used to score Bangladesh’s first test double hundred in 2013 against Sri Lanka up for the highest bidder online this week. But the auction organizers had to call off the auction as fake offers resulted in price soaring over 50,000 USD said Mushfiqur.
“Afridi has contacted me personally and I sent him a link of the bid”, he said in an online forum on Friday. On May 13th he sent me a letter and offered 20,000 USD. He bought my bat with this & I am really privileged”, Mushfiqur said.
Mushfiqur’s management firm said that the money will directly go to the development charity and with this money, they will help people with coronavirus.
Afridi who also runs his own foundation said that his purchase was a good one. “We are facing the tough times and the need to help the poor as much as we can is more in these times”.
Mushfiqur was the second Bangladeshi Cricketer to raise Coronavirus funds by selling a bat. Suspended all-rounder cricketer Shakib Al Hasan got almost 24,000 USD last month for the one he used in the 2019 World Cup.
