Sanju Samson the young batsman of the Indian Cricket Team has no regrets to spent his time on the bench despite of playing in the team speaking about the time on bench Samson said, “I always look at the brighter side of things. I got to share the dressing room with legends like Virat bhai and Rohit bhai and by sitting on bench also you can learn a lot from them.
India wicketkeeper Sanju Samson on Tuesday shared his experience about the time he spent on the bench in the Indian team’s dressing room and he said that he learned a lot many things being with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Highlighting Samson’s career in the Indian team, he was included in India’s T20I series against Bangladesh in the year 2019 after giving an exemplary performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy but after that, he didn’t get the chance to play a single game in the three-match series, he was also not included in India’s T20I squad against West Indies which was held in the month of November last year. But luckily he got the chance to show his skills after Shikhar Dhawan got injured and ruled out. But with Rishabh Pant standing in the queue with outstanding performance, Samson was again deprived of the opportunity to play and show his competency. The right-handed batsman, at last, got the chance to play a game in the 3rd ODI against Sri-Lanka in Pune this year in January which marked his 2nd International game in the T20 format for India.
Talking about his time spent on the bench, Samson said: “I looked at the brighter and good sides of things. I got to share the dressing room with legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and there are lots of things which you can learn from them even if we just observe their game, the way they handle themselves on and off ground. And to be a part of the World’s best cricket team is pride in itself”.
The Rajasthan Royals franchise batsman got a good chance to showcase his talent in New Zealand when he was called to play at the 4th and 5th T20I. “The New Zealand tour is one of the best times of my career. Yes, I accept that I could not perform with the bat the way I wanted to perform and my performance was not up to the mark. But I believe the change of style that I have adopted in my batting style will sometimes lead to failures but I have willingly accepted the fact that I have to wait and prepare for next big ventures of my career”, Sanju Samson added.
He also recalled the most cherishable moment of his life. He further recalled when he was sent to bat in the super-over along with Virat Kohli in the 4th T20I, “I was sent to bat in a super over again in a crucial phase of a tough match and that too with Virat Kohli, so you can figure out the trust the Indian team had on me. That was the great achievement in my career”, Sanju Samson added.
