Former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is all praise for the “all-weather” batsman Mohammad Rizwan after he scored a gritty half century on Day 2 of second Test Match against England.
Rizwan on Friday took Pakistan to a decent total even after the squad’s middle order collapsed. Manjrekar applauds Rizwan’s much needed gutsy performance in the innings & said that the outstanding shots which he played in the innings makes him an “all-weather” batsman.
“This Mohd Rizwan can bat! He can drive well off the front foot & at the same time play the pull & the cut superbly. This makes him an: all-weather” batsman. No wonder his top 3 scores in Tests so far have come in Aus and Eng,” Manjrekar tweeted.
Day 2 was tough for England as the game was delayed due to bad weather. After resuming the game from 126/5, Pakistan lost their star batsman Babar Azam who was easily caught behind the stumps by Jos Butler & this was an important wicket for England which was successfully grabbed by Stuart Broad.
After Babar was removed Pakistan was facing a tough time as they were losing wickets at regular intervals however Rizwan handled the situation spectacularly by playing cautiously & taking his side to a respectable total before Day 2 was ended.
Rizwan continued to rock the pitch & is unbeaten on 60 while Naseem is not out at 1. Stuart Broad again proved beneficial for England as he scalped two wickets for his side while Anderson picked just one wicket on day two of the ongoing Test series against England.
