The hospitality company OYO has announced its plan to open 500 additional hotels in the cities that will be the venue of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India in a bid to deliver seamless accommodation alternatives and improve the overall fan experience.
The decision was made in anticipation of the increasing demand for hotel rooms associated with the tournament to be held in India.
In consideration of the higher demand for travel that comes along with big cricket events, OYO wants to plan out additional hotels closer to the stadiums.
According to a business representative, this strategic location guarantees simple access for cricket fans traveling from all over the world to watch their favorite teams in action.
The ICC ODI men’s World Cup is set to begin on October 5 and end on November 19 in the host cities of Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune.

Due to a rise in demand in the host cities as the tournament draws near, accommodation rates have already increased. OYO has also noticed an important rise in hotel demand during the event.
The OYO representative emphasized that the introduction of these 500 hotels will meet the increased demand and ensure cricket fans from all over the world have access to comfortable and reasonably priced lodging.
In addition to OYO’s initiative, the online travel agency MakeMyTrip has also started a campaign asking citizens of the host cities to market their properties on its website.
This response follows a sharp increase in demand for homestay accommodations, especially in important metros and cities like Ahmedabad and Dharamshala.
Parikshit Choudhury, Chief Business Officer at MakeMyTrip, noticed cricket fans’ growing curiosity about homestay accommodations.
The company has added a feature to its platform that shows the separation between lodgings and cricket venues in each location. Based on the closeness to the stadium, this feature helps cricket fans choose the best hotel alternative.
As the countdown to the 2023 ODI World Cup continues, the collaborative efforts of OYO and MakeMyTrip aim to guarantee cricket fans a smooth and enjoyable experience.
