Mohammed Kaif feels that MS.Dhoni should be featured in the ICC T20 World Cup and not selecting him for the tournament will be totally ‘unfair’.
Former batsman Mohammed Kaif on Wednesday said that according to him KL Rahul should not be kept as a permanent wicket-keeper instead he should be kept as a backup wicket-keeper so that the workload on the player can be managed by KL Rahul.
“People are predicting that KL Rahul will become our main wicket-keeper in the near future but I feel that Rahul should be kept as a backup wicket-keeper if the main keeper is injured or if he is not with the team at that time Rahul should be there because if you solely rely on Rahul as the main keeper then chances of injuries will grow as the workload will increase on him, Mohammed Kaif quoted.
Talking about MS. Dhoni’s cricket career, Mohammed Kaif said that he feels that MS Dhoni should be featured in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and dismissing him out of the tournament will be totally unfair for him.
“People may have eyes on MS.Dhoni that how he is going to play in the IPL and then Dhoni will be the decision about Dhoni’s involvement in the ICC T20 World Cup but my point of view is different from others. I do not judge Dhoni based on his IPL performance. He is a great batsman, a great captain and he is fit now, he wants to play IPL, do captaincy and is showing his availability. He has a winning mentality and knows how to win games under pressure”, Kaif said.
“So according to me ruling Dhoni out will be an unfair decision. See a lot of cricket is left in Dhoni and when a player plays for this long tenure there are ups and downs in his career and this happens with every cricketer and not just MS. Dhoni”, Mohammed Kaif added.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is scheduled to be played between October 18 and November 15 at seven venues across Australia. As the country continues to fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic so Mohammed Kaif appealed to people to follow the guidelines issued by the Government and stay at home.
“My message for the society at these tough times is to stay at home and follow what the Government is saying then only we can combat this virus. At this stage, it is very important for our safety to stay at home”, Mohammed Kaif added.
