The 32nd match of the IPL 2023 was no less than a nerve-triggering fixture which saw Rajasthan Royals locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, May 7. The fixture gave goosebumps to all the IPL fans as the results changed in Hyderabad’s favor just on the last ball of the fixture which was termed as a no-ball. The fixture turned out to be special for veteran off-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who achieved the feat of joint-highest wicket-taker in the IPL history.

During the run-chase, Chahal had the highest number of wickets in his kitty i.e. 4-29 in four overs. His outstanding spell helped him to join Bravo as the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. With 183 wickets in 142 matches in the IPL, Chahal managed to grab the number one spot in the list of highest wicket-takers in the IPL. Others who are on the list of top five wicket-takers in IPL are Ravichandran Ashwin, Piyush Chawla, and Amit Mishra.
Coming to the IPL 2023, with 17 wickets in 11 matches Chahal occupies fifth place in the IPLM Purple Cap list. Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022 & he continued his blistering performances in IPL 2023 as well. He would try his best to win the glorious purple cap this season as well.
Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a nervy win on a last-ball debacle
Talking about the fixture, batting first Rajasthan posted a mammoth 214 runs on board. Jos Buttler’s 95 off 59 balls along with Samson’s 66 off 38 balls helped them to guide their side to a mammoth total on board. However, Hyderabad was no less in the run-chase as all their batters stood up on the occasion & managed to pull off a thrilling win for their team. Amolpreet (33), Rahul Tripathi (47), and Abhishek (55) all scored crucial runs in the middle overs. While brief cameos by Klaasen (26) & Phillips (25) guided Hyderabad near victory. The equation read 41 runs off 12 balls with Glenn Phillips at the strike. Phillips then showed his heroics with the bat by smashing three sixes in the first three balls of the 19th over. Sandeep Sharma managed to draw a victory for Rajasthan on the last ball but there happened the unexpected with the umpire terming the delivery as a no-ball. Hyderabad got a boon in the form of free-hit & they capitalized on it by smashing the winning runs & winning the fixture by four wickets.
