ICC WTC is another prestigious tournament that every full associate nation aims to win. And WTC 2023 Final is no different at all as it will offer incentives for both finalists & the participants of the marquee event. The winners of the WTC 2023 Final will win $1.6 million as the winners’ prize money while the losing finalist will grab $800,000.
The tournament prize money is the same as it was for the WTC 2019-2021 season i.e. a purse of $3.8 million. New Zealand who won the inaugural edition of WTC was awarded $1.6 million prize money along with glittering mace. They won the prize money after defeating WTC 2019-2021 finalist India by eight wickets in a six-day final. While the rest of the money was distributed among other participants of the WTC 2019-2021 season. Similarly, the WTC 2021-2023 participants will get a share in their $3.8 million purse.
South Africa who finished third at the WTC 2021-2023 Points table will receive $450,000. England which ended fourth in the WTC 2021-2023 cycle will earn $350,000. Sri Lanka which is fighting for the final spot at the WTC 2021-2023 Points Table will receive $200,000 as prize money. On the other hand, Sixth-Placed New Zealand, seventh-placed Pakistan, eighth-placed West Indies, and ninth-placed Bangladesh will be given $100,000 each.
WTC 2023 Final will be played between June 7-11
WTC 2023 Final is all set to be played between India & Australia from June 7 to 11 with a reserve day on the 12th at the Oval, London. Australia was the first team to qualify for the prestigious event on the back of its 66.67 percent and 152 points. They have topped the WTC 2021-2023 Points Table. India which finished second in the WTC Points Table with 58.8 percent and 127 points is the second finalist of the WTC 2021-2023 Final.
Indian team is leaving in batches for the marquee event with one batch already departing for the UK On May 23rd. On the other hand, Virat Kohli & his wife Anushka Sharma left for England on May 24th Wednesday. The other members of the WTC 2021-23 contingent such as Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Shami who are currently participating in the IPL 2023 will leave after the conclusion of the league by May 30.
