IND vs WI Tests: The Indian Cricket team is probably trying to create a backup for Virat Kohli as they are looking for his successor who can play at No 3 after Virat’s retirement. The management is planning to change the opening pair of the team & sending Shubman Gill down the order. This is because they believe that Shubman Gill will be a perfect successor for Kohli at the No 3 spot.
Though Virat is 34 years of age, his perfect fitness means that he can play & contribute to the team’s success for more 2-3 years. But backups are important & youngsters need proper grooming to that they can take over the seniors. Keeping that in mind, Shubman might be tested at the third spot in the IND vs WI Test Series.
IND vs WI Tests: Shubman Gill has earned a place for himself in India’s Test Squad
Shubman aka Prince of the Indian Cricket team has fixed his spot in the indian team for all formats of Cricket, thanks to his improving performances. He has formed a rewarding opening stand with Rohit Sharma over the years & is one of the first to be included in the Indian team. But if Shubman comes to bat at No 3 then the question arises for the opening position. Here Ruturaj Gaikwad & Yashasvi Jaiswal will come into the picture. On the other hand, with Chesteshwar Pujara missing, Gill will take his spot while Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane will bat at 4 and 5 respectively.
With some senior players being rested there is a good opportunity for Indian Team & Rahul Dravid to try & test new faces in the West Indies series. The Indian team will adopt a few changes as they are planning to rest a few players in order to manage their workload. Meanwhile, the fight for the wicket-keeping spot in the squad between Ishan Kishan & KS Bharat will be settled after India’s warmup fixture. Furthermore, depending on the pitch at Dominica, a choice will be made between Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur.
