Indian cricket maestro Virat Kohli has achieved yet another milestone in his illustrious career, surpassing the legendary Virender Sehwag to become the fifth-highest run-scorer for India in Test cricket. With his latest achievement, Kohli shattered Sehwag’s record of 8503 runs, which the former opener accumulated in 103 Test matches during his stellar 12-year Test career. Following him is Rahul Dravid, who amassed 13,288 runs during his illustrious career. Sunil Gavaskar, the first player to reach the coveted 10,000-run mark in Test cricket, holds the third spot with 10,122 runs, while VVS Laxman, known for his elegant stroke play, occupies the fourth position with 8,781 runs.
Since making his Test debut against the West Indies in Kingston in 2011, Kohli has established himself as a stalwart in the Indian batting order. With an average of 48.72 and a strike rate of 55.34, he has accumulated over 8000 Test runs. Kohli has recorded 28 centuries and 28 fifties, with his unbeaten 254 against South Africa in 2019 standing as his highest score in red-ball cricket.
