Tamil Nadu Premier (TNPL 2023) is all set to kickstart on Monday, June 12. The cash-rich league is all set to be played for a period of one month with the finals scheduled to be played on July 12. The tournament will be played for a period of one month & the final is scheduled to be played on July 12. Around eight teams will play the league in a round-robin format before marching into the playoffs stage.
The format is identical to IPL 2023 as around 32 matches will be played throughout the tournament which includes the knockout matches. Later the top four teams will march into the playoffs where they will play in Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 & the Final.
The top teams will play Qualifier 1 where the winner will directly qualify for the finals & the loser will play Qualifier 2. The Eliminator clash will then be played between third & fourth-placed teams & the winner will then compete in the second qualifier for a spot in the TNPL 2023 Final.
The TNPL 2022 ended in hush-hush as the tournament was abandoned due to rain with both the finalists, Lyca Kovai Kings, and Chepauk Super Gillies, being declared joint winners.
Notably, TNPL 2023 will have an Impact Player Rule & DRS Rule just like IPL 2023. However, DRS here won’t cover wide & no balls just it used to do in the IPL 2023.
