Sri Lankan squad looks quite balanced with the presence of both experienced & veteran players to the announced squad. The squad boasts of prolific new players in face of Harshita Samarawickrama, Vishmi Gunaratne, and Kavisha Dilhari while the presence of Oshadi Ranasinghe and Udeshika Prabodhani will add experience to the squad.
Meanwhile, Jess Kerr has been excluded from New Zealand squad due to a hit she suffered on her toe while batting early last week. After a scan it was revealed that she had broken her toe & will need up to six months to recover completely. The management named Leigh Kasperek as Ker”s replacement for Sri Lanka series. Kasperek who has last played for New Zealand on September 23, 2021 against India will now don the New Zealand jersey once again.
SL W vs NZ W ODI Series will begin from June 27
Sri Lanka will host New Zealand Women for three match ODI series beginning in Galle on June 27. Last month the Sri Lankan team hosted Bangladesh in for three match ODI series followed by three match T20Is series. Sri Lanka won the ODI series by 1-0 score, as two ODI were washed off due to continuous rains. The one fixture which could be completed was 30 over affair where Sri Lanka scored 186-5, thanks to Athapaththu’s 60-ball 64-run knock, and Harshita Samarawickrama’s unbeaten 48-ball 45.
