SL vs IRE: Ace Sri Lankan spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya is on the verge to script history and becoming the fastest spinner to claim 50 Test wickets in the history of the game. Prabhat has been simply astounding for Sri Lanka since his debut as he has claimed 48 wickets in just 7 Test matches. West Indies Alf Valentines is the incumbent record holder for the fastest 50 Test wickets in Test cricket. Valentines took 8 matches to achieve the feat and Prabhat is looking confident enough to edge past the record set by Valentines.
Sri Lanka is currently hosting Ireland for a Test series where Prabhat is featuring in his 7th game. Notably, Sri Lanka & Ireland are playing a second Test match. And probably in the second innings of the second Test, Prabath Jayasuriya will etch his name in history by becoming the fastest spinner to reach 50 Test Wickets in just seven Test matches.
If Prabhat Jayasuriya attains the commendable feat, he will join the likes of South African paceman Vernon Philander and Englands’s Tom Richardson who also took 7 Tests to accomplish the milestone. However, both the bowlers are pacemen and Prabhat is geared up to set his epitome amongst the spinners.
