RCB vs RR: The Royal Challengers Bangalore powered yet another scintillating victory over table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in their recently concluded pool-stage fixture at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bangalore on Sunday. The high-voltage drama between the two heavyweight sides resulted in wholesome entertainment for the fans who thoroughly enjoyed the contest. Notably, ace Indian paceman Mohammed Siraj who was absolutely phenomenal in the match hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. Siraj bowled the deciding 19th over of the game and turned the match in RCB’s kitty while Dhruv Jorel was slowly trying to earn a name for himself by anchoring the run-chase.
During Siraj’s penultimate over of the match, he was observed abusing his counterpart and middle-order batsman Mahipal Lomror. Lomror was fielding at the Long On when Dhruv Jurel hit the last ball of the over toward him. Lomror’s throw to the bowler’s end was inaccurate, allowing Jurel to steal the second run. Facing the heat of the riveting game, Siraj visibly abused Lomror in frustration.
Mohammed Siraj claimed to apologize Lomror twice in RCB’s post-match review on YouTube
Interestingly, Mohammed Siraj personally went to Mahipal Lomror and reportedly apologized for the demeaning incident. The RCB’s Youtube channel had posted a Match Review video on the social platform where Siraj claimed that he had already apologized to Lomror a couple of times. Usually aggressive on the field, Mohammed Siraj is calm and composed outside the field. The evolving paceman accepted the fact and stated that he will duly take care that such issues don’t arise in the near future.
Coming to the breathtaking fixture between the Challengers and the Royals, Bangalore posted a thumping 189 runs total in their first innings backed on solid knocks from Faf du Plessis (62) and Glenn Maxwell (77). Chasing a mammoth total, Rajasthan Royals were on track to hunt the target as Yashaswi Jaiswal (52) and Devdutt Padikkal had laid the foundation. Dhruv Jorel’s cameo of 34 had brought the visitors closer to a victory but Kohli & Co. were lucky enough to restrict them to 182 and win by 7 runs.
