RR vs CSK: India’s veteran opener, Ravichandran Ashwin adds one more accolade to his kitty. He now holds the rate feat of dismissing most batters for a duck in the IPL. He achieved this remarkable feat during the RR fixture against CSK when he dismissed Ambati Rayudu for a second ball duck. With the dismissal, Ashwin’s count of dismissing batters for a duck in IPL reached 20, which is the most in the history of IPL. So along with other feats Ashwin now also holds the record of dismissing batters on 20 occasions for a duck in IPL which is the most in the history of IPL. Coming to the match Ashwin has returned with the figures of 2 for 35 in his spell of four overs.
RR beats CSK by 32 runs to reclaim the top spot
Coming to the match, batting first RR got off to a great start by welcoming CSk for consecutive fours in the first over. The opening pair of Yashaswi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler stitched an ideal stand to score 86 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswak top-scored for RR by returning with figures of 77 runs off 43 balls with eight fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of 179.06.
Later after quick dismissals of Samson and Hetmyer, Jurel stabilized RR’s innings by scoring a quickfire 34 off 15 balls. He got valuable support from Devdutt Padikkal who remained unbeaten at 27 runs off 13 balls with five fours. On the back of these valuable knocks, RR crossed the 200 runs mark in the allotted 20 overs. For CSK Tushar Deshpande starred with the ball by returning with two scalps while Maheesh Theekshana & Ravindra Jadeja returned with one scalp each.
In reply, CSK got off to a stunning start with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad returning with figures of 47 runs off 29 balls. However, his partner Conway couldn’t convert the start into a good score getting dismissed for 8 runs off 16 balls. But Gaikwad got good support from Shivam Dube who scored 52 runs off 33 balls. But still, things were not under control as they lost wickets at regular intervals which resulted in their defeat.
Ravichandran Ashwin & Zampa’s stint with the ball helped to restrict CSK in their run chase
Ravindra Jadeja (23 off 15) & Moeen Ali (23 off 12) scored quick cameos but the asking run rate was increasing as RR bowlers bowled some tight deliveries. As a result, RR won the fixture by 32 runs & thereby dethroned CSK to occupy the top spot at the Points Table. By winning the fixture RR ended CSK’s three-match winning streak & grabbed the top spot at the Points Table. For RR Zampa starred with the ball by returning with figures of 3-22, he got valuable support from Ravichandran Ashwin who too scalped 2 wickets for 35 runs. RR will next lock horns with Mumbai Indians in their next fixture on April 30 & will hope to keep their winning momentum intact.
