Glamorgan County has signed ace Australian leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou on a short-term contract for the ongoing edition of the Vitality English T20 Blast 2023. Peter has been added to the squad as a cover for Michael Neser who is currently with the national side for the Pre-World Test Championship (WTC) and the Ashes camp.
Peter Hatzoglou will join Glamorgan on a short-term contract. Hatzoglou embarked on his initial career as an accountant but he later got rid of it after getting a chance to play at the Australian Big Bash League. Peter had been playing club cricket for Essex and will now be excited to join the Glamorgan contingent. Peter Hatzoglou has been a part of the Perth Scorchers side in the Big Bash League. Interestingly, Peter has made a valuable contribution to the franchise where the Scorchers have successfully won the last two editions of the championship.
Notably, Peter also featured for the Oval Invincibles franchise at the Hundred championships in England last year. He was also a part of the Pakistan Super League championship.
Mark Wallance signed Peter Hatzoglou for a short-term contract
Addressing the media, Glamorgan’s Director of Cricket Mark Wallance stated that Michael Neser is certainly not going to be available for some of the upcoming fixtures of the Vitality T20 Blast 2023. He mentioned that they will not disturb Neser as he has national team commitments and will anticipate him to make a comeback soon.
Furthermore, Wallace stated that they have signed Peter Hatzoglou for a short-term contract to bring in depth to the bowling department. Wallace concluded his statement by saying that Peter has exceptional experience playing T20 cricket all across the globe and he will be a valuable addition to the side.
Peter Hatzoglou was excited after his inclusion in the Glamorgan squad. He stated that he was aware of Neser’s commitments and that he wasn’t too far from practicing at Essex. Peter concluded by saying that he is delighted to be a part of the squad and will certainly give his best for the glory. Glamorgan won their inaugural fixture against Gloucestershire on Friday. They will now take on Taunton in their upcoming game on Sunday.
