NZC announced Central Contracts for the 2023-24 season & there comes a boost for Adam Milne who has been awarded a central contract for the first time in five years. He has featured in 16 white ball fixtures for New Zealand & could be included in the ODI World Cup in 2023.
“Adam’s worked exceptionally hard and has shown good resilience over the past few years to be in a position to earn this contract offer,” said Black Caps head coach Gary Stead.
“He’s always been a top-class bowler and we were impressed by his consistent contributions in the recent home summer and tour of Pakistan.”
Allen, Chapman & Tickner added to the Central Contracts List 2023-24
The other major absentees from the list are the trio of Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, and Martin Guptill. All three of them have requested to be released from NZC contracts so that they can feature more in franchise T20 leagues. Notably, Boult has ensured the board that he will be available to play for the National team in crucial tournaments & thus he has been offered a casual playing contract.
Other highlights of Central Contracts are the retention of prolific players such as Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, and Blair Tickner who joined the Central Contracts list in 2022. They have replaced retired player Colin de Grandhomme who retired from International Cricket in August 2022 & Boult & Guptill who declined National Contracts in order to play more franchise leagues.
Let’s have a look at the NZC Central contracts for 2023-24:
