MI vs CSK: Yellove Army scripted history after defeating Mumbai by six wickets at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. This was the first time since 2011 that Chennai has defeated Mumbai on the grounds of Chepauk. The match unfolded with chennai winning ths toss & opting to ball first. Batting first, Mumbai got off to a disastrous start as they lost three wickets within three overs reducing Mumba to 14-3. Ishan (7), Green (6) & Suryakumar (0) all were dismissed in qucik succession leaving Mumbai reeling for runs. Then came Nehal Wadheera on the crease who anchored Mumbai Indians innings by stitching a valuable stand with Suryakumar Yadav.
Nehal played a crucisl knock of 64 runs off 51 balls with eight fours & one six. Suryakumar too provided him a helping hand by playing a crucial knock of 26 runs off 22 balls with three fours. aBut soon their stand was broken When Jadeja dismissed in the 11th over. However, Nehal along with Stubbs sticthed abither valubale stand to help MI end their inning at an average 130 runs. For Chennai Super Kings Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers returning with figures of 3-15 in four overs. He got valuable support from Tushar Despande & Deepak Chahar who returned with two wickets each.
In reply, CSK got off to a blistering start with openers Ruturaj Gaikwad & Devon Conway stitching 46 run stand for the first wicket in just five overs. Ruturaj scored 30 off 16 balls while Conway returned with scores of 44 for 42 balls. But soon their blooming stand was broekn when Ruturaj was snet back to the pavilion im the fifth over. But Ruturaj’s dismissal didnt affect Conway on the other end who stitched another gleaming stand with Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane scored 21 off 17 balls before walking back to the pavilion in the 9th over, Amabti too played a brief cameo of 12 runs off 11 balls. In the end, Shivam Dube (26 off 18 balls) & MS Dhoni (2 off 3 balls) stayed unbeaten to guide their team over the line in 17.4 overs. For Mumbai Indians Piyush Chawla was the pick of bowlers returning with two wickets for 25 runs.
