The Melbourne Stars have signed Australian fast bowler, Scott Boland in a three-year deal for BBL 2023. Boland had been on duty with the Australian Test team in England for the Ashes series when the announcement is made.
After three seasons with the Hobart Hurricanes and giving up a BBL contract last year due to his crucial role in Australia’s Test attack during the home summer, Boland has returned back with the Stars.
During his previous seasons with the Melbourne Stars from 2013 to 2019, Boland featured in 31 matches, and now, he eagerly looks forward to reuniting with the home team. “I can’t wait to be a part of the Big Bash again, and it’s great to be back at home with the Melbourne Stars in front of family and friends at the MCG,” Boland stated.

Boland, who is also under contract with Cricket Australia for the 2023–24 season, came to prominence in Melbourne with his outstanding debut performance in a Test match against England on Boxing Day at the MCG. He had remarkable figures of 6/7 on that specific occasion, claiming Player of the Match.
The Melbourne Stars hope to strengthen their team for this year of BBL season with the addition of Boland after a poor year in which they finished last in the standings with only three wins from 14 matches.
Expressing his excitement about reuniting with the Melbourne Stars, Boland also praised the support of Melbourne’s fan base: “The Stars have the best fans in the league, and hopefully, I can be a part of some success and help the team secure their elusive first BBL title.”
Boland has shown his bowling skill throughout his BBL career, collecting 70 wickets overall at an economy rate of 8.47.
The Melbourne Stars hope to put together an explosive squad that can contend for the BBL championship in the upcoming season with Scott Boland’s comeback.
