Maharashtra’s lad, Amol Kalpe from Malegaon has been taken into custody by Baramati City Police for age forging. He has been sent to 14-day magisterial custody after he stayed in Police Custody for three days. Kalpe has allegedly changed his date of birth for MCA’s U19 league fixtures to be held in January 2023.
Amol Kalpe has mentioned his birth date of birth as September 28, 2007, in the documents which he submitted for MCA’s U19 Invitational League fixtures. But under police investigation, his older documents were presented which revealed his date of birth as February 15, 1999.
“We verified the documents submitted by the complainant. Post verification, we questioned the Malegaon boy on the issue of hiding his real age and later arrested him. On Sunday, a magisterial court ordered his three-day custodial remand which ended on Tuesday. Now that he has been sent to magisterial custody, he can seek a regular bail,” Inspector Sunil Mahadik was quoted by The Times of India.

Amol Kalpe’s age forgery matter came into the limelight after a member of the Karbhari Club, Nana Satav registered a complaint about the same. Satav said that he met the police because of the inappropriate handling of the matter by the concerned authorities. He further said that not addressing the over-age issue is inappropriate who youngsters who follow the regulations to get named in the U19 squad.
Amol’s elder brother said that when Amol left for Baramati to play a cricket tournament they were not aware of the matches he would be playing or the age group with which he was competing.
Notably, this was the first year of Amol Kalpe in any group of the MCA Invitation League. Earlier he played three group matches for MCA before he was regarded as ineligible to participate in any of the tournaments.
