Krunal Pandya wants to create own identity as LSG Captain

LSG captain Krunal Pandya has done an impeccable job as a stand-in captain of the LSG franchise. It was under his captaincy that LSG registered a glorious win over defending champions Mumbai Indians. Though Krunal tries to learn from renowned captains he doesn’t want to imitate anyone else.

Lucknow suffered a huge blow when KL Rahul was ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to an injury during their fixture against RCB. However, his deputy Krunal Pandya took up the reins in his absence & did an outstanding job as captain of LSG. Krunal stood up in times of need and played crucial innings against Mumbai Indians to guide LSG over a massive win. After heroics with the bat, Krunal said that he doesn’t want to imitate any other player. He further stated that he wants to play his natural game & wants to bring the same in his captaincy be being himself.

“Obviously, I’ve been aware that I’m the vice-captain for the team, and again I’ve never changed. I always played cricket how I wanted to play cricket. I’ve taken the captaincy the same way as well. I don’t want to imitate anyone.

Yes, I want to learn good things from everyone but at the same time, I want to be myself. If I am myself, and if I do it my way then the chances of doing well for the team are high. I’ve played cricket hard and in a certain way, and the same thing I apply while captaining this team as well,” Krunal said during a media interaction.

Further Krunal said that he have discussions with Hardik Pandya about everything as they have played much cricket together & share common views about the game. While Hardik has led Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title win in 2022, Krunal wants to do the same for LSG this year. Krunal also revealed one characteristic which is common in both the brothers. He said that both of them likes to take up responsibility since their young days.

“We discuss cricket a lot, we discuss everything. We have played cricket in a certain way, whether we were leaders or not we have always taken responsibility, and we have seen this game as a leader. So when you become captain, it’s slightly easier because you have always seen the game how you can contribute and how you can win games,” he added.
