IND vs WI: The Men in Blue is all set to embark on the West Indies Tour which will begin on July 12 with Test series. However, there are chances of rescheduling the first Test due to ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023. West Indies are participating in the Qualifier tournament which will end on July 9. And they will require two days time to travel from Harare to Roseau where the first Test will be played. Thus there are chances of rescheduling the first Test.
There are logistical problems to reach from Harare to Roseau, as it takes two to reach there. And with the Test series beginning on July 12, the Caribbeans will need two days approximately to reach there. This will make it difficult for the West Indies team to reach Rosseau on time & begin playing the Test series immediately on July 12.
“The final of the CWCQ is meaningless, so our Test players won’t participate, but first we need to make sure we reach the final,” a CWI official said,
Initially, Cricket West Indies used separate teams for red-ball & white-ball matches, but this time they have kept the same team for both formats. The first Test squad includes Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, and Alzarri Joseph who are currently participating in the CWC Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They were also a part of West Indies’ 39-run win over the USA on June 18. Thus it is necessary for the management to provide the players with adequate rest & result in a smooth transition of players from the ODI to Test format.
The Caribbeans have named prolific players in the Test squad as well so that they can face the mighty Indian team & win the series. If West Indies manages to win World Cup Qualifiers along with the India series then it would be icing on the cake for them
