The ongoing edition of the IPL 2023 is witnessing tremendous controversies. The players, team management, and spectators are engulfed in many differences of opinion that are leading to serious conflicts. In yet another trajectory, veteran Indian batsman Robin Uthappa took a sharp jig at his ex-franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
The IPL has finally reached the penultimate stage where Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings battled it out in Qualifier I. The home side and the Yellow Army led by M.S Dhoni paved their way into the finals after defeating Hardik Pandya & Co. A noteworthy thing observed during the match was that Robin Uthappa was sitting in the stands and supporting Chennai Super Kings. Questions were raised regarding Robin’s support as he had predominantly been a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise at the IPL with whom he had a six-year-long association and also clinched a title alongside.

Replying to the questions raised against him, Uthappa took a sharp jig at Kolkata Knight Riders and stated that Loyalty and Respect is a give and take. He indirectly targeted the team management with whom he had differences while leaving the franchise in 2019. Uthappa was eventually picked by the Chennai Super Kings franchise at the auctions.
It is believed that Robin Uthappa was hurt by the way the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise treated him in the past. The team management chose junior-ranked Dinesh Karthik over him for the captaincy position back in 2018 and subsequently released him in 2019.
Notably, Robin Uthappa lauded the efforts of Chennai Super Kings players who stormed into the finals. Batting first, Chennai posted a commanding 172/7 runs total in their first innings of 20 overs. Chasing a steep total, Gujarat Giants were bundled out for 157 runs and lost the match by 15 runs. Chennai was absolutely phenomenal in its approach at Qualifier I. They will now face either Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, or Lucknow Super Giants at the final that will be held on 28th May in Ahmedabad.
