IPL 2023 records most Sixes in a Single Season of league

Cricket News India – The IPL 2023 has been one of the best seasons of the cash-rich league. During GT vs RCB clash on May 21st at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, IPL 2023 has surpassed the record for most sixes in a single season of the league. Gujarat Titans star opener Shubman Gill has scored the 1063rd six of the IPL in the 70th fixture of IPL 2023 making the ongoing edition the season with the highest number of sixes being registered. Previously the record of the highest number of sixes in an IPL season was recorded during the 2022 edition of the league where 1062 sixes were smashed in the 2022 season.

While IPL 2009 was the season with the lowest number of sixes. IPL 2009 was contested in South Africa due to Lok Sabha Elections. Just 506 sixes were smashed in 59 matches during that particular edition of the league.

RCB Captain FAF Du Plessis is the player who has smashed the highest number of sixes in IPL 2023. He has smashed 36 sixes in 14 matches & is also the Orange Cap holder with 730 runs in his kitty including eight fifties smashed at an average of 56.15 & a strike rate of 153.68. On the other hand, MI & KKR are the sides that have smashed the highest number of sixes in IPL 2023, with 125 sixes each.

Chris Gayle has smashed the highest number of sixes in the history of IPL

We have talked about IPL 2023, but when the entire competition is looked upon, Chris Gayle holds the record of smashing the highest number of sixes in the history of IPL. Chris Gayle has ended his IPL career by smashing a total of 357 sixes in 141 innings. Gayle also holds the record of smashing the highest number of sixes in a single IPL season i.e. 59 sixes in the 2012 season. It is only Gayle who has reached 300 sixes record in IPL while no other batter has managed to breach the mark to date.

Rohit Sharma comes second on the list of the highest number of sixes in IPL with 256 sixes in his kitty. Former RCB batter AB DE Villiers, Captain MS Dhoni & Virat Kohli are others in the top 5 list of batters with the highest number of sixes with 251, 239, and 234 sixes in their kitty.
