Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings is currently in the second position with 15 points in their tally. Chennai is in a comfortable position to qualify provided Royal Challengers lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight. If RCB manages to win both of their remaining fixtures, Chennai will be involved in a Net Run-Rate battle alongside Lucknow Super Giants who also have 15 points in their kitty. Chennai will take on Delhi Capitals in their final group-stage fixture.
2. Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants is also in a convincing state to make it in the Playoffs. After their clinical victory over Mumbai Indians, Lucknow has likely sealed their playoff berth. Lucknow will also gain a direct qualification if Royal Challengers Bangalore loses against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Lucknow will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their final pool stage fixture.
3. Mumbai Indians
IPL’s most successful franchise seems to be in trouble after their defeat against Lucknow previously. Mumbai has a decent chance to qualify for the Playoffs provided they anchor a victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last pool stage match. Mumbai are currently 4th in the standings with 14 points in their tally. Mumbai has a poor Net Run Rate and they cannot rely on other teams to ensure their qualification with only 14 points.
4. Royal Challengers Bangalore
With two games to play, Royal Challengers have a strong chance to qualify if they power to victory in both games. All eyes will be on the Men in Red as their victory will dampen the hopes of Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings. Bangalore will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight before taking on Gujarat Titans in their final group-stage contest. Bangalore might also finish in the top two if Chennai and Lucknow lose their last games respectively.
5. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals were off to a contemplating start but their consistent stint started to deteriorate as they kept on losing games at regular intervals. Rajasthan is now left with only 12 points in their kitty and will be dependent on Mumbai and Bangalore for their qualification. Rajasthan has a positive Net Run Rate unlike Mumbai and if the Men in Blue and RCB lose all their remaining fixtures, Rajasthan can qualify by beating Punjab Kings in their final pool stage fixture.
6. Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders have been inconsistent with their performance throughout the season. Knight Riders have stolen some spectacular victories but struggled to win consistently. Knight Riders have 12 points in their kitty and have an identical scenario of qualification to that of Rajasthan Royals. Knight Riders will face a tough challenge from Lucknow Super Giants in their last group-stage game.
7. Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings lost a golden opportunity to qualify after suffering a defeat against Delhi Capitals last evening. Their qualification is now reliable on Mumbai and Bangalore provided they also defeat Rajasthan in their final pool stage fixture of the championship. Punjab currently has 12 points in their kitty.
