Ace English all-rounder Ben Stokes sustained another fresh injury while featuring for the Chennai Super Kings franchise at the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Stokes was already out of action for a while and a new injury will keep him out of contention for another week.
Ben Stokes was bought by the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL Auctions for the 2023 season. Notably, CSK is looking forward to a transition in leadership and Stokes is suited to fill the void space that will be left by legendary MS Dhoni. He was bought for a whopping Rs. 16.25 crores but has failed to justify his massive salary as he has only played a couple of games so far.
Chennai Super Kings Head Coach Stephen Fleming addressed the media after his side’s flamboyant victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad last night and updated them regarding Stokes’s injury. Fleming stated that Stokes had sustained a minor injury and it is not a major one. He further mentioned that he is speedily recovering from the injury and will don the yellow jersey soon.
Ben Stokes has failed to hit the mark so far for CSK
Ben Stokes hasn’t displayed any fascinating performance in the two matches he has played so far. Stokes has scored only 15 runs and remained wicketless in the season. The CSK management will be expecting Stokes to come back stronger out of his injury and play a thumping role for the side.
Meanwhile, concerns were also raised regarding skipper MS Dhoni’s injury. Dhoni was observed limping after CSK’s thrilling fixture against Rajasthan Royals. However, Dhoni returned back with enthusiasm in the following game and led his side to a clinical victory against Aiden Markram & Co.
The Chennai Super Kings have roared to a stellar start at the IPL 2023. They have recorded four victories in the six games played so far. CSK is third in the standings behind Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. MS Dhoni & Co. will now take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming fixture tomorrow at Eden Gardens.
