IND W vs BAN W: Bangladesh Women have announced squads for the ODI series against India Women. And there comes a recall for the prolific player Sharmin Akhter in the ODI squad. Sharmin who has displayed spectacular performances has earned a call-back on the basis of her good run in the limited-overs format on a consistent basis. Sharmin last played an International fixture during Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand in December 2022.
The other notable inclusions to the 17-member squad are Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, and Salma Khatun, who has played in 46 ODIs. The trio was a part of the three-match T20I series which Bangaldesh lost by a 2-1 margin. Salma could feature only in the opening T20I while Marufa and Shorna played in all the three T20Is. Marufa who has played in three ODIs so far is yet to open her account. But a major positive of his good economy rate which is maintained on spin-friendly tracks.
Meanwhile, the announced squad has excluded Jahanara Alam & Fariha Trisna. It would also miss the services of wicketkeeper-batter Rubya Haider. Jahanara has been excluded from a few series in a row for reasons unknown. Though she has displayed spell-bounding performances she has been overlooked for this crucial series as well. Jahanara has an economy rate of 4.26 in ODIs and has picked up 48 wickets in 52 games.
Coming to the ODI series between India Women & Bangladesh Women, the cricket extravaganza will begin on July 16. The ODIs will be played on July 16, 19, and 22 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, the same venue as the three T20Is.
