IND vs WI Test Series: The question of who is going to put the gloves behind the wicket has sparked a lot of discussion for India’s much-expected Test series against the West Indies. Since the WTC Final against Australia, the two candidates, KS Bharat, and Ishan Kishan, have been competing for the position.
However, neither has been able to make a strong case for the role. The battle between Bharat and Kishan becomes more urgent as the selectors are ready to make a choice after a practice game.
Bharat’s wicketkeeping skills during the WTC Final were excellent, but his batting hasn’t been all that impressive. Only 5 and 23 runs could be managed in the two innings during the match against Australia, and Bharat’s batting problems continued during the earlier Test matches, scoring just 101 runs in six innings. The Indian performance against Australia was hampered because lower-order batsmen failed to make a big difference.
IND vs WI: Ishan Kishan is competitive as Rishabh Pant
Ishan Kishan, a left-handed batsman similar to Rishabh Pant, is famous for his fiery style of play in contrast. Although Kishan had not yet played in a Test match, his performances in ODIs and T20 Internationals have drawn attention.
Even Bharat applauded Kishan’s superior wicketkeeping abilities before the WTC Final during a practice session. Team India’s lack of dependable lower-order contributions is an area of concern, but Kishan’s aggressive batting style could offer an answer.
Kishan continuously trained at the NCA to get ready for the West Indies tour, concentrating on improving his abilities. He seems to be focused to establish himself in Test cricket given his decision to decline the Duleep Trophy.
The performance of both Bharat and Kishan will surely be important in choosing the final selection for the series opener against the West Indies, which begins on July 12. A two-day practice match has been scheduled for July 5 and 6.
The team’s management must make a difficult choice. Will they pick Kishan’s aggressive batting style and potential to strengthen the bottom order over Bharat’s dependable wicketkeeping skills? Also, India’s performance in the series may be heavily impacted by this choice.
The final decision between Bharat and Kishan will be decided after the selectors look at the needs of the team as well as each player’s performance in the practice game.
