IND vs SL 3rd ODI Highlights: Men in Blue have displayed an outstanding show to outclass Sri Lanka by massive 317 runs to register a clean sweep. An outstanding show with the bat by Virat Kohli & Shubman Gill accompanied by a fiery bowling spell by Mohammed Siraj helped India to script history by registering a win with the highest run margin. After batting first India managed to post 390-5 in 50 overs while in response Sri Lanka was bundled out for 73 in 22 overs.
The match unfolded with India batting first. The openers Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill truned the heads around by stitching a meaningful 95-run stand for the first wicket. Rohit was trying to play big innings but failed to do so & got dismissed after scoring 42 runs off 49 balls. But Gill on the other hand was going strong right from the beginning. He registered his second ODI ton & went ahead to score 116 runs in 97 balls including 14 fours & two sixes. Gill also stitched a powering 131-run stand for the secodn wicket with Virat Kohli.
After Gill’s dismissal at 116 runs, Virat Kohli carried ahead India’s innings by stitching a 108-run stand for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer. Virat registered his second ton in the ongoing ODI series & stayed unbeaten at 166 off 110 balls in innings laced with 13 fours & 8 sixes. This also marked his second-best score in ODIs. Blistering knocks from Virat Kohli & Shubman Gill helped India to post a commendable total on board. For Sri Lanka, Rajitha & Kumara starred with the ball by scalping two wickets each.
In reply, Sri Lanka couldn’t cope up with India’s fierce bowling attack. They were losing wickets at regular intervals right from the beginning of their innings. Mohammed Siraj breathed fire & gave his side the first breakthrough right in the first over by sclaping the wicket of Kusal Mendis & Avishka Fernando.
Things were not over for Siraj as he rattled Hararanga’s stumps to leave Sri Lanka tottering at 37-5. Sri Lanka’s only hope left at that moment was Dasun Shanaka but that too ended soon with Kuldeep dismissing him for 11 runs reducing Sri Lanka to 50-7 in the 15th over. Wickets kept falling like a pack of cards & in the end Sri Lanka could amass just 73 runs losing the fixture by a massive margin of 317 runs. For India, the star with the ball was none other than Mohammed Siraj who rattled their batting order by returning with figures of 4 for 32. Mohammed Shami (2-20) & Kuldeep Yadav (2-16) too supported him.
