ODI World Cup 2023 likely to kickstart on October 5, IND vs PAK to be fixed Soon
As per the speculations & reports, the ODI World Cup 2023 is all set to kickstart on October 5 & conclude on November 9. BCCI has finalized 12 venues for the marquee event with the opening fixture & finals to be held in Ahmedabad. But there again come complications with PCB not agreeing to play any fixture in Ahmedabad. PCB has also stated that they will only play the finals if they qualify for the same at the Narendra Modi Stadium & not any of the other fixtures.
On the other hand, BCCI wants to host IND vs PAK fixtures in Ahmedabad stadium due to its large capacity crowd. The venue for the mega clash will be discussed during the SGM on May 27. Meanwhile, the decision on the Asia Cup venue will also be decided in the SGM on May 27. India has clearly stated that they won’t travel to Pakistan for any fixture while BCCI, SLC & BCB doesn’t agree to PCB’s hybrid model.
India is not ok with playing in Pakistan neither they want to play in UAE due to the scorching heat during that period of time. Thus Pakistan has sent a proposal to BCCI to host India’s fixtures at a neutral venue with the final being staged at the same venue if India makes it to the summit clash. India is ok to play fixtures in Sri Lanka & Bangladesh but they are not willing to play fixtures in UAE.
“I have not seen the proposal. But there has been no change in our stance. We want the tournament to be played at a neutral venue and not the UAE. We can’t risk any more injuries with the kind of heat there.
Sri Lanka is best suited for the tournament. As of now, we have not discussed anything about boycotting it. Let’s first understand the situation, and then we will take a call,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
When the IND vs PAK fixtures will be hosted? And what key decisions will be made in SGM on May 27? All the questions will be answered only after SGM.
