“The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments. Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC informed InsideSport.

As per the ICC Draft Schedule, the marquee event is all set to kick start from 5th October. And therefore the participating nations will have to submit their teams five weeks ahead of the tournament. As per the ICC rules, the squad submission should take place a month before the support period begins. And as the support period begins a week ahead of the World Cup 2023, the ICC has allotted August 29 as the deadline for submitting teams.

It would be difficult for BCCI & selectors to submit the World Cup 2023 teams at the given time with Chief Selector not being selected yet. However, once the chairman of the selection committee is appointed it won’t be tough for the management to finalize the World Cup 2023 Squad. The World Cup 2023 is all set to be announced on 27th June which is 100 days before the marquee event.
