There comes a fresh update from Mumbai’s Bombay Scottish School as the gleaming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy will arrive at the renowned school on 4th July 2023. As a part of ICC’s Promotional Trophy Tour which is taking place in several locations around the world, the prestigious ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy will be brought to Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai on Tuesday.
“We will be getting the World Cup to our school tomorrow (Tuesday). This is a part of the ‘Trophy Tour’. The trophy traveled from Kolkata to Leh from where it is coming to Mumbai. We are the only school in Mumbai to get this rare opportunity to host the trophy,” Bombay Scottish principal Sunita George told TOI. “20 school cricket teams are coming on the occasion,” she added.
Earlier in Mumbai in June 2023, the schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 was unveiled. As per the Schedule, the World Cup will be played from October 5 to November 19 with 10 nations participating in the event. Bengaluru, Delhi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai & Pune were the venues where the event was to be hosted. Hyderabad will be joined by Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in hosting the exhibition games.
ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will kickstart on October 5
The opening match of the event will be played in Ahmedabad with New Zealand locking horns with England while India will open their campaign against Australia in a high-octane fixture on October 8 in Chennai. Then arch-rivals England & Australia will play their first fixture against each other on November 4 while India & Pakistan will lock horns in a fixture on October 15 at Ahmedabad. Eight teams have earned direct qualification through the Cricket World Cup Super League Points Table while the winners of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe will fill the rest of the two seats.
The round-robin format from the previous edition of the tournament will be continued in this tournament as well. A total of 45 league stage fixtures will play against each other. All the fixtures including the knockouts will be a day & night affair beginning at 2 pm IST. There are six-day fixtures which will begin at 10:30 IST. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, which will take place on November 15 in Mumbai & November 16 in Kolkata. There will be a reserve day for the semifinals & finals.
