The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the latest edition of the Men’s Player Rankings. Ace Irish batsman Harry Tector has moved to his career-best No. 7 spot in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings after his marvelous stint in the recently concluded series against Bangladesh. Notably, Tector’s No. 7 Ranking is also the highest ODI ranking for any Ireland batsman in the history of cricket. Tector sparked to glory and encountered a flamboyant stint by scoring 206 runs during the unsettled ODI series for Bangladesh.
Harry Tector was consistent in scoring runs for Ireland where he played three crucial knocks. Tector scored an unbeaten 21-run knock in the first ODI followed by a commendable 140-run knock in the second ODI. He added 45 runs in the third ODI.
With this contemplating performance, Tector added 72 rating points to his tally which took his total to 722 rating points which was the most by any Ireland batsman. Previously, veteran batsman Paul Stirling held the record for the highest batting ratings amongst Irish batsmen where he had 697 points back in June 2021.
Harry Tector surpasses Kohli & Rohit on the ICC ODI Rankings for Batters
Harry Tector interestingly edge past India’s finest batting talent Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who was in the 8th and 10th position respectively. Pakistan skipper continues to ascend the throne and lead the Men’s ODI rankings. Harry Tector has been a prolific performer for Ireland in recent times. He has amassed 769 runs in 13 innings in the last calendar year including 4 centuries and 4 half-centuries. Notably, Tector scored at an exceptional average of 76.90 and a stunning strike rate of 90.89.
Harry Tector will be Ireland’s crucial asset when Ireland participates in the upcoming ICC World Cup Qualifiers that are scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe in July 2023. Apart from Harry Tector, his Irish counterpart Mark Adair also gained significantly in the recently announced rankings. Adair jumped 30 spots to the 31st position in the bowling rankings after he scalped 7 wickets in the recently concluded Bangladesh series.
