England & West Indies are all set to face each other in the first Test match today in Ageas Bowl at Southampton which marks the resumption of International cricket after a long three months duration.
However, rains delayed the start of the much-awaited England Vs West Indies three-match Test series at Southampton which is the first International Match since March. The toss was delayed as downpour started in the bio-secure venue at Southampton. Today’s 1st Test Match between England & West Indies will mark the resumption of international cricket after months of coronavirus enforced lockdown. But as the players were gearing up to show some action sudden showers in Ageas Bowl resulted in the pitch getting covered up & thereby preventing the toss taking place at 9.30 GMT as scheduled. No spectators will be allowed to attend the three match Test series of which two matches are scheduled to be commenced at Old Trafford.
Players & Each team management is staying at on-site hotels to stop the spread of COVID-19. Bowlers will have to abide by the rule of not using the saliva to shine the ball as a mandatory health measure. International travel restrictions is placed for the first time since 2002 both on-field umpires came from one of the competing teams with English officials Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth in the middle.
