Disney+ Hotstar viewership has reached peak during the ongoing WTC 2023 Final. During the first two days of the WTC 2023 Final Disney+ Hotstar recorded 15 lakh viewers. The average live viewership for the most awaited Test Cricket Championship that has been watched across the globe is within the range of 10 lacs. During the recently ended IPL 2023, Jio Cinema touched a peak of 3.21 crores viewership which is the highest ever for any streaming platform.
As per the recent announcement, Disney+ Hotstar is going to keep cricket tournaments like Asia Cup & ICC World Cup 2023 outside their paywall. Jio Cinema’s strategy of keeping sports such as IPL outside their paywall has helped them to earn huge success. Disney is now trying to catch up with the industry trends as the viewership moves from linear TV to digital. During the recently ended IPL, digital streaming was far ahead in terms of advertisers as compared to linear TV.
Disney+ Hotstar’s decision to offer free streaming of sports comes after losing 8.4 million paid subscribers after the conclusion of IPL. The loss of HBO content from Disney+ Hotstar is impacting its premium subscriber base as per a recent report in ET on Thursday.

Talking about WTC 2023 Final, India is in a big problem after trailing by 318 runs by the end of Day 2 while chasing a huge target of 469 runs.
