CSK Captain MS Dhoni is every cricket fan’s heartbeat! He is the one who has led CSK to their fifth IPL title by defeating GT in IPL 2023 Final clash. It was Dhoni who stood behind his team & guided them to their fifth title triumph. But everyone knows that the heart robe skipper was playing in the league with a knee injury. He made a point not to miss even a single fixture of IPL 2023 & was supporting his knees with casts before & after IPL matches. There were also speculations that IPL 2023 will be Dhoni’s last season. But ending all the speculations Dhoni promised his fans to return back to play for the next season if his body permits him. In order to fulfill his promise, immediately after IPL 2023 conclusion Dhoni consulted a specialist doctor in Mumbai & underwent injury. Currently, he is doing well & is undergoing rehabilitation.
Talking about his return to the IPL, CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan provided an update on MS Dhoni’s injury status. He stated that he had a talk with Dhoni who told him that he would rest for at least three weeks before beginning his proper rehabilitation process.
“Actually, he told us immediately after the final is over, he’ll fly to Mumbai, have surgery, and go back to Ranchi for rehab. I visited him in Mumbai after Ruturaj’s wedding [on June 4]. It was a courtesy call. He’s quite comfortable. He said he’ll rest for three weeks and then start his rehab. And as he said, he’s not going to play until January-February. We don’t need to remind him about all that,” Kasi Viswanathan told ESPNcricinfo.
We don’t ask Dhoni several Questions, says Viswanathan
Viswanathan also said that don one is asking Dhoni many questions as he is well aware of the process of how he has to overcome the injury setback & return to the game.
“He knows what to do, how to go about it, so we aren’t going to ask him ‘what are you going to do, how’ etc. He will inform us on his own. Whatever he’s doing, he’ll call first and inform only Mr. N Srinivasan, not anyone else. Factually, he’ll be straightforward with him. From him, we’ll get the information that this is what he’s doing. It’s been this way since 2008. That’s how it will continue,” Kasi Viswanathan said.
CSK lifted fifth IPL Title by winning 2023 edition
Going back to April 29 when CSK lifted their fifth title, the yellove army & their fans were in tears as they managed to clinch the fixture on the last ball of the 20th over. It was a gift for MS Dhoni who wanted to end his IPL career with one more Title in his kitty.
The equation was reading 10 runs off the 20th over & every hope for the CSK to win was vague, thanks to GT’s mohit sharma who bowled some brilliant yorkers & putting CSK under pressure. It was because of Mohit’s tight bowling spell, power-hitter Shivam Dube & Jadeja could score a run a ball on the first four balls of the 20th over. But with 10 runs in the last two balls. Jadeja displayed his heroics & scored a six on the penultimate delivery, igniting the hope of a win in every CSK fan’s heart. On the last ball, he smashed a four to help CSK chase the DLS set target of 171 runs in 15 overs. Jadeja’s last ball heroics helped CSK to script their name in golden words in the history of IPL by winning their fifth title.
The team dedicated their win to their ‘Thala’ & Dhoni got emotional. Looking at his teammate’s support & love of crores of his fans, Dhoni said in the post-match presentation that he will try his best & return to play in IPL 2024 which will be a gift from him to his fans. However, knowing his knee injury he also said that if his body permits he will surely play another season only for his fans. Notably, Dhoni was unable to score even a single run in the final & was dismissed for a duck. If he returns in IPL 2024 then it will surely be a treat for CSK fans as once again fans will get a chance to witness their ‘Thala’ in action on field!
