On June 19, the BCCI announced the selection of new members to the Women’s Selection Committee and Junior Cricket Committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee, formed by Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, thoroughly reviewed the applications for the open posts as part of the selection process. Following an extensive examination, the CAC equally recommended Shyama Dey Shaw and VS Thilak Naidu for the positions.
A renowned left-handed batter and fast bowler Shyama Dey Shaw has an outstanding background in cricket. Shaw offers talent and experience to the Women’s Selection Committee, having represented India in three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. Shaw first gained recognition for her talent while playing domestic cricket for Bengal from 1985 to 1997 and for Railways from 1998 to 2002. She has also participated in two periods as a Bengal selector, showing her extensive understanding of the sport.
Meanwhile, VS Thilak Naidu, a former wicketkeeper, provides his knowledge to the Junior Cricket Committee. In the renowned Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy competitions from 1998–1999 to 2009–2010, Naidu had an outstanding career playing for Karnataka and the South Zone. Naidu. In his successful post-retirement career, he served on the KSCA Senior Selection Committee in 2015–16 and chaired the junior selection committee from 2013–2016.
Neetu David would act as the Chairwoman of the Women’s Selection Committee
Neetu David is going to act as the chairwoman of the newly formed Women’s Selection Committee, along with the known members Renu Margrate, Arati Vaidya, Kalpana Venkatacha, and Shyama Dey Shaw. The recognition and growth of talented female cricket players across the country is going to be greatly assisted by their combined knowledge and experience.
Similarly, VS Thilak Naidu will take over the Junior Cricket Committee with respected individuals Ranadeb Bose, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Pathik Patel, and Krishen Mohan. The primary objective of this committee will be to identify and develop young talent, giving them the guidance and backing they need to succeed in their cricketing careers.
The BCCI’s commitment to developing and promoting cricket talent at both the senior and junior levels can be seen in the selections of Shyama Dey Shaw and VS Thilak Naidu to these esteemed committees.
