BAN vs AFG: Bangladesh have announced the 15-member squad for their upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. And the star all-rounder, Shakib-Al-Hasan will return to the squad for the upcoming three-match ODIs. He missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur due to a finger injury suffered during the ODI series against Ireland in May. They will hope to continue their winning streak in the ODI format by clinching this crucial ODI series.
Bangladesh has played a T20I series, a one-off Test & an ODI series against Ireland just before the Afghanistan series. The white ball series was hosted by Bangladesh, while the one-off Test & ODI series was played in the UK. Notably, Tamim led the team to win the entire series against Ireland & is quite confident heading into the Afghanistan series.
Litton Das, Najmul Shanto, and Shakib-Al-Hasan, all made a cut to the announced squad. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed will further bolster their squad.
Bangladesh beats Afghanistan by a huge 546 runs in One-Off Test
Afghanistan began their Bangladesh tour with one-off Test which the Litton Das led team won by 546 runs. Bangladesh scored 382 in the first innings on the back of Najmul Hossain Shanto’s ton. Ebadot Hossain scalped four wickets & helped to wrap Afghanistan’s innings for 146 runs in their first innings.
There was no stopping for Shanto who hit another ton in the second innings. Mominul Haque also scored a ton which helped Bangladesh to declare their innings at 425 on Day 3. On the back of their blistering knocks Bangladesh set a massive 662 run target. Chasing a mammoth total, Taskin Ahmed claimed registered a four wicket haul which restricted Afghanistan to 115 runs winning the fixture by 546 runs. The victory marked the third largest win in the Test format. The three-match ODI series will begin on July 5 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Notably, the venue will host all the three-match ODI series. The three match ODI series will be followed by a three match T20I series.
