


Former & current Indian Cricketers took to their social media handle to recall & celebrate the country’s World Cup Title win that came 37 years ago on this day in 1983.
On June 25, 1983, India defeated West Indies by 43 runs at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground to win their first World Cup title. The former Indian Captain Kapil Dev went back in memory lane & posted a picture of him holding the trophy in England on Instagram. “37 years to a day that will never be forgotten,” Kapil Dev captioned the photo on Instagram.
Former Indian all-rounder & current head coach of the team India Ravi Shastri also took to twitter to recall this remarkable day on which team India hailed victory that changed the face of Cricket in India. “#ThisDayThatYear On 25th June in 1983, we believed and we became – World Champions and changed the face of #Cricket in #India once and for all. @therealkapildev @ICC @cricketworldcup,” Shastri tweeted.
Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also took to his social media handle & thanked Kapil Dev along with the rest of India’s 1983 World Cup squad for inspiring the future generations to go hail victorious World Cup for the country.

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif also praised Kapil Dev & shared the throwback “iconic” image on the 37th anniversary of India’s Maiden World Cup title win. Back in 1983 World Cup Final, India lost the toss & were asked to bat first by Clive Lloyd. Srikkanth top socred for Team India with a knock of outstanding 38 runs as India bowled out for 183 runs. Bowlers Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath took three wickets & West indies were all out at 140 runs losing the final by 43 runs.
