Australia has retained NO 1 spot in the ICC ODI Team Rankings following the annual update. The latest annual update takes into account results from the 2019-20 season & reflects rankings since May 2020. With 118 points in the kitty, Australia is two points ahead of second-placed Pakistan which takes into account fixtures before May 2022 at 50% & subsequent matches at 100%. Earlier this month due to a similar annual update Australia lost their No 1 position to India in the Test Rankings list.
Pakistan occupied the top spot in the ODI Rankings last week after clinching the ODI series by 4-0 against New Zealand. They couldn’t maintain their position for long as they lost their final fixture & moved down after Australia in the Points table. If Pakistan had managed to win the series by 5-0 then they could have maintained their position at the top order even after the release of the annual update.
