On June 9, the Executive Board of the ACC met via a video conference & decided to take the final decision on Asia Cup 2020 in due course of time.
Sri Lanka is likely to host the Asia Cup 2020 if the tournament goes ahead this year as PCB has offered Sri Lanka to swap its hosting rights. Although it’s technically Pakistan’s turn to host the Asia Cup this year, the PCB has offered the Sri Lankan board to so a swap at an ACC meeting earlier this week, with Sri Lanka Cricket handing over the hosting rights for the 2022 Asia Cup. However, the ACC’s executive council has not approved the swap of hosting rights between nations yet but is expected to confirm hosting plans before the end of the month.
The two reasons behind the exchange of hosting rights are the present relations between India & Pakistan are not very good & secondly, the coronavirus pandemic is under control in Sri Lanka so hosting the Asia Cup will be feasible there.
There is doubt if the tournament will go ahead as planned due to the restrictions & the logistical hurdles posted by the Pandemic. Sri Lanka has not hosted an Asia Cup since 2010 & will look to grab the opportunity to attract the home crowd towards the stadium. India is the defending champion of the tournament.

On Thursday India postponed their Sri Lanka tour due to travel restrictions placed because of coronavirus pandemic. The Indian Cricket team is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka later this month to play three ODIs & three T20Is respectively.
