India’s middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane did what others failed to do. He played a gritty knock of 296 runs in the WTC final against Australia to help his side post a mammoth total on board. He showed a lot of composure & along with Shardul Thakur, Rahane stitched a valuable stand to steady India’s innings in the chase of 469 runs.
During his stay at the Crease, Australian bowlers left no stone unturned to get rid of well-settled Rahane. In the process, Rahane suffered various body blows & ended up hurting his finger. But when asked from him that whether it will affect his batting stint in the second innings to which he replied that he is in the position to bat in the second innings as well.
Rahane who was away from the National squad for a long period due to his poor form has made a stunning comeback with the WTC 2023 final. He proved that whenever the team will need him he would be there for the team & will give his best performance. He also said that the team was looking to put a mammoth 320-330 on board by the end of Day 3, however, they have led a good fightback & are in a good position by the end of Day 3.
“Painful but quite manageable (blow to his finger). Don’t think it’ll affect batting,” Rahane told broadcasters when asked about his injury. “Happy with the way I batted. Had a good today. We were looking to get 320-330 but overall we had a good day,” he added.
Wicket will still assist Seam Bowlers, said Ajinkya Rahane
The hot topic of the ongoing WTC 2023 Final is choosing a fourth pacer over Test specialist Ravichandran Ashwin. Many felt that it was a wrong decision but as per Rahane wicket at the Oval pitch is assisting seamers & it would continue to assist them in the last two days as well. Rahane also applauded Ravindra Jadeja for his excellent bowling spell towards the end of Day 3.
“Bowling wise we bowled well. Everyone chipped in. Jadeja bowled really well, footmarks helped him against the left-hander. Still feel wicket will help seam bowlers,” Rahane mentioned.
