Ms. Dhoni’s Childhood coach Keshav Ranjan Banerjee is full of hope that Mahi will get a chance to play in the T20 World Cup and will be surely a part of the Indian Cricket team Squad.
Everyone was hoping to witness a powerpack comeback of Dhoni with the IPL 2020 but due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 Pandemic it is pretty sure that IPL will be canceled for this year, but lighting Mahi’s fans mood his childhood coach Keshav Ranjan Banerjee is full of hope that the cricket hero will find a place in India’s T20 World Cup Squad. The glitzy IPL league which is already postponed till 15th April with the hope of the current pandemic situations getting over but with the Pandemic situation becoming worse followed by a 21 days nationwide lockdown which begins on Wednesday to combat COVID-19 it is predicted that the IPL is on the verge of cancellation.
Dhoni hasn’t been a part of the Indian team squad since India’s Semi-final exit in the World Cup which was held in July last year. “Looking at the current scenario it is confirmed that IPL will be canceled for this year but we have to wait for BCCI’s final decision on the commencement of IPL. Dhoni’s position in the Indian team has become uncertain but my gut feeling says he will get a chance to play in the T20 Wolrd Cup”, Banerjee said to media in Ranchi.
The Chennai Super Kings Captain Ms. Dhoni was training in Ranchi as team’s lead for IPL 2020 and was also heading CSK training camp in Chennai before the IPL was postponed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
“I spoke to Mahi last time when he returned from Chennai and I am in touch with his parents. He is taking care of his fitness and is fully fit and fine. Now we have to wait for the BCCI’s decision, there is no tournament and the ICC tournaments are called off till June, so we can only wait and watch what will happen next”.
Earlier talking about Dhoni’s cricket career, Head Coach Ravi Shastri said that Dhoni’s performance in IPL 2020 will decide the destiny of Dhoni in cricket who will turn 39 in July.
Former Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag raised doubts about returning of the former Indian team Captain in the Indian team squad as the IPL is almost confirmed to get postponed this year.
“It’s true that he had not played any match since July 2019 but a legend who has played almost 538 International matches, it’s not difficult for him to adjust in the Indian team after comeback. If it was any fresher than the scenario would have been completely different for him, but this is not the case with Ms. Dhoni who has ample experience of the cricket pitch. I think he will definitely get the last chance in T20 World Cup”, said Banerjee.
“He trained himself in Chennai for a week and was going to take further training at the JCSA but now when the country is in lockdown he is self-quarantining at home and making use of facilities and equipment present at his home to stay fit. He has a gym, a badminton court and a running corridor on his home premises. The BCCI is fully aware of the current scenario and will make the announcement about Dhoni’s comeback at the right time”, Banerjee added.
Let’s hope that we will be able to witness the swag of Mahi’s batting in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup!
