There comes a huge blow for KKR as their wicket-keeper batter Litton Das has moved back to Bangladesh due to a family medical emergency. He will miss KKR’s upcoming fixtures in the IPL 2023. Further, BCB has issued a NOC to Das for participating in IPL 2023 only till May 4, which means he could not participate in the ending fixtures of IPL 2023.
The prolific wicket-keeper batter had joined the team after a few fixtures and has just featured in KKR’s fixture against DC in the IPL 2023. He failed to prove his mettle & fell cheaply to DC’s bowling attack. Further, he disappointed as a wicket-keeper by missing out on two crucial stumping chances which allowed DC to turn the fixture & results in their favor.
“He had a family medical emergency for which he had to fly back to Dhaka this morning. There is no update on his return yet,” a team official said on Friday.
Litton Das was bought by KKR during the IPL 2023 auctions for his base price of 50 lakhs. But he couldn’t keep up the team’s expectations after playing just one fixture which ended against him. KKR is currently occupying the seventh position at the Points Table with three wins from seven matches being played. They will have to win all the fixtures in order to stay in contention for the playoffs.
KKR beat RCB by 21 runs to end a four-match losing streak
After suffering back-to-back losses, KKR finally managed to bounce back in the IPL 2023 by defeating RCB by 21 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru, on April 26. The stand-in Captain Virat Kohli won the toss & elected to bowl first. However, the decision didn’t go as the RCB bowlers failed to restrict KKR from scoring freely. Kolkata’s opener Jason Roy got off to a quick-fire 59 off 29 while the skipper returned with 48 runs off 21 balls. The duo helped KKR to reach 200 runs in 20 overs. In reply, during RCB’s chase, KKR bowlers produced an astounding show with the ball & restricted RCB to 179-8 to register a decent 21 runs win.
Except Virat (54 off 27) none of their batters could return with crucial runs at the other end. Mahipal Lomror (34 off 18) & Karthik (22 off 18) played some quick cameos but all went in vain as the asking rate kept rising with each passing over. As a result KKR restricted RCB from chasing the total registering a 21 runs win.
